Random

We started this week not really knowing what town we'd be living in. No, we weren't thinking of moving or anything, there was an election held on Tuesday to see if the citizens of Taylor and Snowflake wanted to consolidate the towns to make on larger town. If this happened, our town would be Snowflake-Taylor, or Taylor-Snowflake. We are grateful the citizens in Taylor voted "no" and so, we still live in Taylor. YAY!
Not only did we not know what town we'd be living in, but we still don't know what season it is! Is it Winter or Spring? We sure wish Mother Nature would make up her mind. We started of the week with sunshine on Monday, snow on Tuesday and Wednesday. More sunshine and warmth on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Today we woke up to an inch of snow on the ground. I take comfort in the phrase "No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow."

The kids have enjoyed learning about Leprechauns in school. They have been hard at work trying to figure out how to catch one of those sneaky fellas and get his gold. I hope they succeed, I hear gold is a good investment these days. We're still trying to figure out what bait will work best. Any suggestions?

This week I've been working on finishing this very Random patch work quilt. A couple of months ago, I went into my sewing room to clean out my fabric cupboard. I emerged two days latter with a crazy quilt top. I'm finally finishing it this week. Yay me!

It's been raining a lot here in the valley and every time it rains I wonder if it's snowing where you are. I am glad you are still a Taylor resident. That would've been so weird for you to be living in Taylor-Snowflake. Good job on the quilt!

That's a COOL quilt top, I didn't know you had that talent. I'll have to show my mom, she loves quilts!

I am glad that we still live in Taylor still! What a huge issue over something so stupid! Anyways, I always anticipate that first crocus comming up too. I cant hardy wait for Spring!! Also great job on the quilt. What a huge accomplishment!

Gurr Family Dictionary

Those of you who have spent time with our family may have noticed that at times, we seem to have a language of our own. I thought it would be helpful to let you know what some of our favorite words and phrases mean to us.

Adgita (ad-je-tu) n. The feeling of being annoyed, or having heartburn, or indigestion. "Honey, I ate to much chili-dog-Pie, and it gave me adgita."

Buggy (bug'i) n. Any off road vehicle used solely for recreational purposes. Also known as ATV's. "Dad will you take us for a buggy ride on the Ranger ?"

Choke v. This is what the kids call throwing up. " I'm feelling sick. I think I am going to choke."

Choncho (chon-choe) n. A small town in northeastern AZ. the town is actually called Concho, but it reminds us of the town in the movie "Nacho Libre". So, we named it after a character in the movie... Choncho. "Man, If I had a double wide in Choncho, and one in Hell. I'd rent out the one in Choncho, and live in Hell.

Gee-on-out-o-here! adv. An expression directed at dogs. Adam loves shouting this phrase at dogs. He does it just so he can sound like a red neck. It's actually quite hillarious when he says it.

Grandma Milk n. Chocolate milk. While we never have chocolate milk in our home, Grandma Quist seems to have it on tap. "Mom, how come you never give us Grandma Milk?"

"Becauase I'm not Grandma that's why."

Janice bowl n. an extremly large plastic bowl. It can be used for just about anything from bathing babies to holding a giant batch of popcorn. Every year Ruth's Aunt Janice gives us one for Christmas. "I need a Janice bowl, I'm about to choke."

Jonny-Big-Rig (jon-E-big-rig) n. any abnormaly large object or person. "Adam, you shouldn't call that lady a Jonny-Big-Rig. It's offensive!"

Junky Momma ! adv. This term originated several years ago in the Quist household. It is an expression of extreme excitement. "After opening a box of lego's on his sixth birthday Russ was so overjoyed, that he yelled "Junky Momma!"

Popawheelie (pop-a-weel 'i) v. Making the front tire of your bike lift up off of the ground."Mom! Watch me popawheelie !" n. The name of Caleb's bike riding club. "Mom, I have new club called the popawheelie club, and I am the President."

Quit it Out ! adv. An expression that means stop. One day Adam either meant to say "quit it" or "cut it out." The result was "Quit it out !" Now we say it all the time. "You better quit it out or you will be going to your room young lady!"

Sled n. a snowmobile." Kids,. its snowing ! Call Grandpa and ask him to bring up his sleds so we can go on a sweet ride."

Temper n. The kids way of saying temperature." Mom I dont feel good. You should check my temper."
