Road trippin' Day 2

On Monday morning, we awoke early,  feasted on cold cereal, and we were on our way. We got thru New Mexico, then Texas, Oklahoma and finally made it to Missouri. We only made a couple of stops that day. The first one was for lunch in Texas, the second was at the Oklahoma City Temple.
The temple in Oklahoma was small, but beautiful. It reminded us of the Snowflake temple.
It was a long day of driving, but it was nice.

We listened to the book "The Work and The Glory" as we drove and it made the trip seem to go faster.
We were happy with the miles we'd covered.  We stopped for the night at a hotel in Springfield Missouri and settled in for a good night's rest.

Road Trippin' Day 1

Sunday May 3rd.  Right after church, we had some lunch, said a traveling prayer, loaded up the Acadia and embarked on what would become our most epic road trip ever! We headed east and took the scenic route through Grants New Mexico to see the LA Ventana Natural Arch. It was beautiful spot to stop and have a picnic dinner. We walked around a little and then continued our Journey on towards Albuquerque.

We made a quick stop at the Albuquerque New Mexico Temple and got a picture there and then went to the Dodds home to spend the night. The Dodd's were out of town, but they were kind enough to let stay the night anyway.

Cousin time!

The day after we got home from from girls camp, we had a fun visit from my cousin Nathan Johnson and his family. They wanted to go camping, but we're having a hard time finding an available campground for the Fourth of July weekend. So, I invited them to come camping in my backyard! We played games and visited and watched fireworks. It was a fun and relaxing visit. It was Just what I needed to gear-up for our big trip! I wish I had gotten more pictures of their visit,  but I was having to much fun playing games and forgot to take pictures. I was able to snap this cute one of Sarah with Nathan and Valerie's oldest daughter Samantha. They share a love of reading.

Girls camp was wet!

Girls camp was wet, and fun!
Eliza, Sarah and I had the privilege of attending our stake girls camp this year. It was held from June 27th-June 30th. The theme was "beYOUtiful". The girls were taught that true beauty comes from within, and each of us are beautiful in the eyes of our Heavenly Father.
We enjoyed games, skits, Zip-lines, a giant slip-n-slide, devotionals, yummy food, and the company of many wonderful friends. We got soaked when an especially wet storm rolled thru, but we survived and would do it all over again if we could.
On Wednesday evening Adam was able to come spend some time with us during bishops night. Bishop Hamblin wasn't able to make it, but Adam and Brother yarn came and brought a fun game that all the girls loved.
I am so grateful that Eliza and Sarah's first year at camp was such a fun one for them! We can't wait to go to girls camp again next year.

Scout camp was cold.

"Tell me about scout camp Caleb".
" It was cold".
Adam and Caleb went to scout camp during the last week of May.
They went up by big lake with a few other wards in the stake.  Adam said it froze every night. One night, in order to earn his wilderness survival merit badge, Caleb had to sleep in a shelter he built himself.  Adam said he and the boys played Farkel (a dice game) every night and it sounds like they had a lot of fun! We have some great young men in our ward. I am glad Caleb has good friends.
